As part of the design team, my focus was on bringing clarity and consistency at scale. ESB manages multiple brands, each with its own identity, but all needing to operate under one cohesive framework. Previously, teams relied on ad hoc solutions duplicating patterns, reinventing components, and struggling to maintain compliance and accessibility.
We solved this by building a unified skeletal design system, then layering brand-specific systems on top. Design tokens became the bridge enforcing consistency across platforms while still giving each brand the flexibility it needed. The outcome was not just a component library but an ecosystem that empowered teams to deliver faster, with fewer errors, and with greater confidence.

Each brand had totally different rules and regulations. In some cases, systems couldn’t be shared at all, which meant traditional “one-size-fits-all” design systems would not work. The challenge was to provide alignment without breaking compliance or slowing teams down.
result.
